Located within Cimla Health and Social Care Centre, the Digital Solutions Suite is a dedicated space where visitors can discover a wide range of mainstream smart technology designed to support independent living. The suite offers expert advice, digital needs assessments, and ongoing support for residents, health and social care professionals, and community groups.

Since opening in August 2023, the suite has welcomed more than 250 visitors and has become a valuable hub for promoting digital inclusion across the county borough.

The new virtual tour has been developed to ensure that those who may be unable to visit in person—due to mobility, distance or other barriers—can still explore the suite and learn about the technologies available. Users can navigate the interactive space online and click on individual devices to view demonstration videos created by the Council’s Digital Enablement Team.

Over 25 short videos have been filmed, showcasing a range of devices including smart plugs, Amazon Echo units, Ring doorbells, smart bulbs, Wi-Fi kettles, electronic door locks, and smart hoovers.

Councillor Jo Hale, Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Services, said: “The Digital Solutions Suite has already helped so many people gain hands-on experience of the smart technology that can make everyday life safer and more manageable.

“With the launch of our new virtual tour, we can now extend that support even further, ensuring more residents—especially those who may find it difficult to visit in person—can still access expert advice and explore the practical benefits of digital devices. This is an important step in promoting independence, wellbeing and digital inclusion across our communities.”
